The Pilot's Cottage
Cottage by the Sea, 2 Bedrooms, Sleeps 4
Port Townsend Waterfront Pilots Cottage is nearly sitting on the dock of the bay. A miniature islet, casual, comfortable and approachable like saltwater, softly textured sand dunes and sea glass. While the crisp, boat-builder designed seashell of a cottage doesn’t move, you’d swear you can feel the pull of the tide when you open the front door.
Guests can see straight through to the inlet and immediately know why you’re here. We see our visitors faces light up as quickly as they step inside. The impact of how The Pilots Cottage touches them. To wake up with the blue water, the scent of salted, clear air; and exclaim, “exactly what we wanted!"
Built in 1936, a sweet haven, weathered by a simpler time. Port Townsent Pilot's Cottage is facing a close watch over the comings and goings of small craft and yachts slipping easy from harbor to ocean.
Our waterfront cottage is graced with idyllic character and comfort. The imaginatively decorated dwelling is meticulously maintained and furnished with high end mattresses, comfortable Italian pieces and custom built furniture. This favorite vacation rental by owner is packed with charm and necessities alike.

...as close as you can stay to the water,
without a boat.
When looking for a vacation rental, most people focus on just one thing;
Location.
Port Townsend dots the NE shore of Quimper Peninsula, on the smaller of the three
sides to the sea peninsula, one grand cast of Olympic Mountains and the abundant forests pose rugged reminders that this small town lies at the edge of the wilderness, of Washington’s Olympic Peninsula.
There is little rainfall year round, an occasional foggy morning to encase Admiralty Inlet in its own dewy world. Out comes the sun and sea breeze to dry off our gorgeous rhapsody of cedar trees, blue water yachts and Victorian era Port Townsend architecture.
There is thriving arts scene, annual cultural events and concerts galore. Ease back from the Pilot's porch and delight in local riggers climbing sailboat masts in preparation for races and around the globe cruising.

The Pilot's Cottage Guest's Reviews
5/5 -
Expect a cozy, homelike place that you will fall in love with and not want to leave! Both quiet and close to everything. Well-equipped kitchen, well-maintained beloved home with lots of character. Sit on the front porch and watch the boats and people, walk into interesting old neighborhoods or downtown. Really a gem!

This is exactly as Jana describes. It’s not fancy, but it’s perfect. Very clean. Charmingly “rustic”. Beautiful location. Near the water and some busy activity of campers and boaters, but equally private and quiet. Sitting on the porch in the early morning with coffee and a book was my favorite part of the day, but enjoying the evening with my family in the same spot as happy people walked by enjoying their time at the beach was fun too (and an easy way to be socially distant but enjoy community). Minutes to walk to the water or into town. Easy little drive to any PT highlights. Whale watching business just up the road and a really good restaurant in a 4min walk. The perfect getaway.

Small quiet cabin right next to the beach! Quick walk into town and farmers market. Next to a great park and a short drive from fort warden!

The cottage is not luxurious but very comfortable. Where it excels is in the location, with a great view of the marina, mountains and ocean. Also very close to everything.

Can’t beat the location in Port Townsend. The best: walkable to everything and the front porch is perfect for morning coffee or afternoon happy hour. Everyone that passes by is friendly, waves hello and asks how you’re doing. The history of the house is intriguing and Jana is an attentive host too. We’ll be back for sure

This cottage is lovely! Roomier than we expected, comfortable beds. We were very cozy, had everything we needed. The location can’t be beat, can walk to anywhere in Port Townsend from here. Drove to the Dungeness Spit one of our days too, exhausted after that hike, it was nice to be able to get dinner in town, and walk back to the cottage to relax after a full day. I also enjoyed the little slice of maritime history this place represents. We definitely lucked out on the weather. I would definitely stay here again.

The cottage was homey, spacious, and centrally located. My husband has a bum ankle but we were still able to walk around to all the local shops and restaurants. Jana was quick to respond to our questions, and went the extra mile in providing fresh flowers upon check-in.

Built in the 1930’s, our quaint and funky getaway was a quiet and relaxing retreat to begin the new year. The cottage is very conveniently located to the city center. Walking was easy to the main waterfront attractions, shopping and eating establishments. This is a maritime community with commerce and recreation revolving around boating of all forms. Jana responded quickly and cordially to my inquiries prior to check-in.

We felt we'd stepped back in time and into a magical storybook ship captain's life. Restful and relaxing place by the sea. Sea otters, sail boats, and a short magnificent walk to Saturday Market and all things lovely in Port Townsend. Authentic, rare, and memorable experience. Don't miss it.

5/5 - The Real Deal! Thank you for your graciousness. Letting us stay for one night with no notice. We were so fortunate to find a truly wonderful home. We had a fire in the evening and woke up to coffee and boats coming and going from the harbor.

5/5 - We stayed here on a family vacation at the beginning of September and it was amazing!! The place is so cute and perfect for a get away in PT. The location is phenomenal; the stores and restaurants are all within walking distance, and it's beautiful to be able to walk out the front door and have all the boats there. Jana was great host. She made us feel very welcome and ensured that we all had a lovely time staying there!

5/5 - Location, Location, Location! We were so lucky to have snagged Pilot's Cottage many months in advance of Port Townsend's fantastic annual film festival. Having visited PT several times, we knew exactly what kind of property we wanted to stay at this time

Cozy, quiet cottage just right for wonderful weekend! My husband and I stayed here for two nights in November, and were delighted with the cabin. It really is just right! It's close enough to town to walk everywhere, but far enough away to be quiet and restful.

My husband and I stayed in Pilot's Cottage for a week in June while we attended a sailing class offered by the Northwest Maritime Center. The cottage was a super home away from home and we really enjoyed our stay. The location is terrific.

5/5 - Magical getaway just a short walk from downtown
The Pilots Cottage has become my families favorite destination location. Each summer for the past few years we rent out the cabin for a few days.

Come capture close-up tide pools, sea otters, great blue heron and a remarkable array of coastal sea creatures in a thriving environment.
A couple of hot spots include Salt Creek Park and Crescent Beach.
Relax into your coastal hideaway and watch the daily ballet of yachts and small craft as they navigate through the whitecaps (known as “cats paws”) or glide along in tow, with their own varnished reflections.
Tune in to enjoy the new rhythm of someplace less packaged in time slots, exits, sound-bites and over booked realities. Hush the Rush.

This waterfront cottage is a key historic structure on Jackson Street evoking balance within active marine trade storefronts; rigger, canvas boat cover designer, charter boat excursions, sail loft, spar building and restoration, live theater playhouse and everything nautical from boatyard painting, varnishing to exotic woodworking. |
The Pilots Cottage is cupped just above high tide inside a kaleidoscope harbor view salted with sprightly small craft, blue water sailing and cruising yachts.
Your one of a kind vacation getaway lodging is cost effective, crisp and has unbeatable local character. Pilot's Cottage is many things to many people: a solitary retreat, a child's playground, girls slumber party or a romantic destination.
